Of the many types of papers a student will encounter, the science research paper is and very different type of paper than what the student might be used to. A point of internalized contention for any student about this type of paper is that it's usually in the realm of papers that get published in prestigious journals and science magazines to be read by the best mind in the field.

  • Science research papers are basically one big question so, it's best to ask more. But there are so many to break down that creating an outline is the best way to organize these thoughts. It's a good way to get an overview of the thought process and the direction of the research.
  • Think outside the box
  • With the outline in front of the student, they have a good idea of their direction, but the thinking outside of the box is a good way to switch gears and force the thinking process in a different direction. Perhaps instead of the perspective of the researcher, the researcher could think on the perspective of the object they're doing their paper on?

It's one thing to quote directly from another person's work, for instance a well known scientist or researcher. But to bring forward new ideas on the subject is something people notice.

If the research is done well, the student will show the professor and their class the direction of thought they traveled to get to the conclusion. Unless a person is a specialist in that student's field of study, it is hard for them to rediscover someone else's work unless the science research paper shows this.

But if the student is into their research and shows their thought process to everyone else in a way that's interesting. It will very much look and become a unused topic.
